Look who it is

Hey,

I haven't done a blog post in months simply because I'm just way too busy and I'm spending my time on my sites that are earning my income when I'm online.

I am spending less time online now and trying to work during certain hours only and getting everything done within that time using a schedule rather than wasting lots of time going around sites (Although everyday I end up behind schedule doing exactly that :p )

My sites are doing great, income has gone up a lot and I am making a regular income even when I'm not working, which is great, who can beat making money without having to work for it!!

So what has happened since I last posted?

• I have been to Gran Canaria and Tenerife
  
• I am planning to move to Gran Canaria
• I went diving twice which was totally amazing! First time my nose started bleeding from the pressure and second time I had to come up from the pain in my ears :( My right ear was a bit deaf for around 2 weeks after but I would love to do it again
  
• I have started a few new sites (My latest is launching in Jan - Online Tourneys)
• I kept DeuceAce (Great move! It is doing great and really helping to develop my poker network)
• I have started to build a nice network
• I have been searching for good coders (Found one so far, only took me 3 months ;))
• My car was broken into and everything inside stolen (ipod, dvd player, cd player, lots of elecs) then they tried to hotwire it, ripping out the ignition and all wires but couldn't get it going
• My car was broken into (A few days later) and left in the city centre
• My car was towed and IIIIIIII got a fine of £280 (Over $560) because it was in the city centre abandoned plus another fine of getting it brought back to my house of £100 (Over $200)
• My car was fined £200 (Over $400) for sitting outside my driveway untaxed (The car was untaxed because I wasn't using that one and I had it put as off the road for my driveway) - It was a few feet away because my driveway is uphill and it couldnt be pushed, a bit hard trying to start a car without an ignition or wires!
• I got a bill for £166 (Over $332) because the car was off my driveway while being registered as untaxed (All this within a few months grrrrr - I could have bought a car with all the fines lol)
• I have been playing a lot more poker (Starting to get more time for poker now that I am just working on my sites during certain times or limiting how long I am working so I have a lot more free time) Enough of the car! lol
  
• Totally redecorated my place (Looking great now!)
• My income has most likely doubled
• I'm making recurring income even without working through affiliating
• I sent a present to my fav affiliate manager, Martyn Beacon from BetFred. Look at the bottom of this post if you want to see what I got him!

So how has everyone else been doing?

I'm thinking about trying to get some sites up and running that I don't have to do any work on, most of my sites right now need a lot of work to keep them running, I can leave them for a week at most but after that they start to die.

This year I'm not going to my Aunty's for Christmas, I'm staying in my own house.
I have really got into cooking so I'm sure it will either be a masterpiece or a complete disaster lol.



I'm also getting a really bad back from so much work and leaning over a table, so I decided to go for something different.

I bought a chair which is actually meant to be for gaming, music, movies etc. but its great.
Its called an x rocker II

It is really comfortable but I haven't bothered to hook it up to anything like the DVD player etc. because I doubt I would use it for that, its just something comfortable to work on and watch TV if I want to.

It has a huge bass speaker on the back and 2 speaker at the top of the headrest, I'm sure it would sound great when its hooked up, but that's a bit too much work.

I'm getting a new business card done for DeuceAce and Online Tourneys which should have been complete days ago but I haven't been able to get the designer very often.

I really hope its done just after new years because I have a few things going here and need them printed to hand them out.

Talking about New Years.....Who is getting me a birthday present????

It's been a while!

I haven't updated to here in a long time and a lot of people have mentioned to post, isn't that right Sohaib ;)

Nothing has really changed for the sites I own really but my income has gone up quite a lot since the last post.

I put DeuceAce up for sale and it finished around a month ago, but the sale still isn't through.

Things are taking a very long time, so I am not sure what is going to happen with it.

The final winning bid was $40,000.

Site Updates

DeuceAce - Poker Forums

I have been doing a lot on DeuceAce to increase the activity, trying some contest, running lots of freerolls, adding content, doing regular newsletters, working on backlinks and the regular other things any forum admin does :)

The site is doing really well and we have over 1500 members and getting closer to 10,000 posts.

Over $3000 has been given away on prizes and I am working on more every week to give back to members which will help the site grow.

Flop or Fold - British and Irish Poker Forums

I have been doing a lot trying to get Flop or Fold finished, it is taking a lot longer than I expected but that's because I just want to do a lot from the start and have everything ready to go.

I have added quite a lot and the site is about 85-90% complete, a few more weeks and I would say everything would be finished, it would have been complete weeks ago if I didn't have to work on DeuceAce as well.

I really like the design on it, it is very similar to DeuceAce, but that's what I was asking the designer to go for.

I have registered this one under its own business name because I will be working on this locally and I will be doing some things differently than the online sites that will take a different business approach.

I just registered it 2 weeks ago but I am waiting on the documents to come back now.

I also went through the same business enterprise for this as another business I run, they provide business support, accountancy (I also have my own accountant), financial management and a lot of other things including following up with my business plans every 6 months and giving advise in general.

NonStopArcade - Free Games

Pretty much as was, with some things improved and trying to sell advertising on it more to increase revenue, I think it would be making a few hundred a month, not much but its ok for the little work that goes into it.

Now receiving over 6000 uniques a month, over 7000 on average this month and going up by at least 1000 monthly for the last 4 months, hopefully it will keep going like this :)

I haven't been adding any new content or games, I'm sure I should but I have been working on sites that give a better ROI.


GamblingAffiliatez - Gambling Webmaster and Affiliate Forum

Hmmm...since Jan I have only done a few things, added an integrated directory, started working on a custom script for affiliate managers to submit their programmes for affiliates to search, rate, review etc. and added around 15-20 unique articles.

I have always really wanted to work on this one but something else comes up with my other sites. I think putting a few k into it and paying someone else would really work well.

I did have an offer of $1300 for the site as is, but I have put in more than that so far so it isn't worth it.

Revenue - REALLY minimum, just started offering text links on it, the site is PR4 with over 400 pages indexed so its worth a few $ at least :p

RakebackBob - Poker Rakeback

I started a contest on SitePoint but I was away for about a week and when I got back it seems like the contest has disappeared and everything is lost :o

I knew who I was going to pick and I was ready to get it coded, I had the coder lined up for it to get it finished, the script only needed a few tweaks and everything is ready to go.

I haven't posted in a long time but I have been working hard on my sites.

I set a plan for what sites I will be developing this year and a target for stats and revenue from each site for every month.

I already reached double my target for this month but it was because I had some big advertisers renewing on a few sites.

I really like the design on the site but I'm waiting for the custom postbit, should have it this week.

I used vbadvanced for a portal system on the homepage, I normally don't use portals but I am going to be updating this with regular content and articles instead of just focusing on the forum.

I got the link directory from vbadvanced for the gambling affiliate directory, its totally integrated with the design and everything is managed from the admincp.

One thing I wanted was automatic payments but it doesn't have anything for payments so I have to do it manually.

I think I will be taking phplinkdirectory off DeuceAce and putting on the vba directory instead.

I have a custom script for the site that will let affiliates search for affiliate programs to promote, I have to get some work done to it though before I put it online. Once its finished I will post a link to it here.

DeuceAce has been doing good this month, I reached 1400 registered members and 8000 posts, still not a big forum but its getting there, slowly :)

I have a lot planned for DeuceAce this year and just ran the first freeroll of 2007 yesterday.

I have had a lot of companies looking to advertise on the site but I am sold out of all space, think I have to bump up the prices since demand is so high.

I changed the directory to yearly payments instead of one-off, they are lower than before but having recurring payments is a lot better than higher one-off.

I posted a screenshot of this design months ago but it needed some changes from malbar, the designer, but I never got them so I'm just going to go ahead with the design as it is and make some small changes to it myself.

I'm sure you can guess from the name, but its for mac poker.

It will mainly just be a content site with some articles, reviews and bonuses, it's mainly being used to drive more traffic to DeuceAce.


Malbar

Has anyone seen Malbar/Petr around? He has a lot of designs that I need to get from him that are already paid for.

He went on holiday over a month ago for 2 weeks when he had work for me and I didn't have any idea where he went until he came back, I got one or two emails from him and haven't heard back since.

He was making some small changes to some designs but I don't even have the PSDs of some of the designs he was doing.

I already had to get another designer to redo work I got from him.

Canada

I have been planning on moving to the US for years but I always had too much on but I think this year could be a good time to move.

Well it was the US I wanted to go to....but with online gambling being banned there its putting me off a bit, so the next best option is Toronto in Canada.

The only thing putting me off Toronto is the weather....Ireland is bad enough but its a lot colder there in the winter.

I think we will be going over first just to check everything out and downtown apartments. Apartments is the only thing I want to check really, I don't know the areas in Toronto at all so I don't know if I should just look around the net at estate agents and check out apartments then find out about the areas and get one before we go over.

I will be renting anyway, I am going over on a one year working visa, a permanent visa takes close to 5 years to get now.

Anyone know, is the weather in Toronto anything like Chicago? I was in Chicago at winter a few years ago.

Long time since I updated but I have been busy lately.

I moved house about 6-8 weeks ago and my internet was just turned on yesterday.

I was only getting on for 30 mins every few days to check on important emails but I wasn't able to do any work so I have a lot to catch up on.

I am working on a new poker site, its going to be similar to DeuceAce, but targeted just at the UK and Ireland.
I will be doing most promotion offline since Im in Ireland.

I am setting up a new business just for my poker network and keeping my other sites and businesses separate. I have a meeting at 2pm on Tuesday to get this sorted :)

Logo draft for the new poker site will be done today so I will post it later or tomorrow :)

Changing tactics

Hey everyone :)

I have decided to change my tactics for my sites, what I am doing now isn't working and I think something else could work better.

I have been focusing on my current sites for a while and just putting some spare time into other sites but I am going to change this, working on my current sites constantly isn't working as well as it should.

I am going to put more time into working on new sites now, they will all be driving traffic to my others anyway so my current sites will be getting more from it.


I have been running more freerolls on DeuceAce, if your interested check out this.

It is more work than its worth really in terms of making any money, I don't think I have made anything from them yet to be honest but its something just for the community anyway.

RakebackBob.com affiliate search is near enough finished now.
I am hiring someone to add the affiliates for me, I don't want to spend too much time with data entry when I could be doing something better.

Once they are added I'm going to email the affiliates and give them 2 free months listing and after that charge $9.95/month.
I think the traffic will be more than good enough by then for affiliates to list their site.

I have already got my first affiliate and they paid for 6 months featured listing :)


NonStopArcade has been banned from google because I had adult games, they told me once I changed it so adsense didn't show on the adult pages they would reactive serving, so I paid a coder for some custom work and emailed adsense to be told the site is banned and it wont be enabled again.

I am selling sitewide text links for 6 months now for $50 is anyone is interested, 1500+ uniques/month and it will go up a lot more soon once I get my network bar and start linking between sites.


My designer is MIA again.....he has been gone for over 2 weeks now, he was on last week and emailed someone else I know and didn't get back to me, I was a bit pissed off with that..
He is only doing a small job for me but I don't mind if he's late, as long as he lets me know.

The coder for my latest site is FINALLY starting to work on it, he is over 2 weeks late as well, I had a launch date set for this and had a lot planned so this really changed some plans, I'm hoping this will be a big site but it still wont be finished for another week.
The coder is really good and hes a moderator on the forum for the script I am using and did all the official skins so I'm sure he will do a good job!

Please - Abandon paypal

Hey,

I have always had problems with paypal but this one has crossed the line and I'm not even going to bother getting my account working again, I have been trying over 24 hours now.

Paypal restricted my account yesterday morning but I didn't worry about it at all because they did the same thing before for the same reason (Poker website, DeuceAce.com).

I am using paypal to accept payments from advertisers, I talked to a manager in Jan this year about it and he actually apologised for the mistake paypal made closing my account thinking I was taking payments for actual bets...

This time...they have been totally unhelpful, every email I have sent they said my account is closed, I have broken their AUP BUT THEY WONT TELL ME WHAT I HAVE DONE.

They said having a directory on my site is against their AUP....This must be a joke. What is a directory? A list of sites using a script to put them into categories to make it easier for users to find sites.


Im not even accepting payments for the links, it was there for ease of use for users.

NOWHERE in their AUP does it say a directory of gambling sites is not allowed.

I have asked numerous times and they still haven't answered.

So...does this mean that all sites linking to a gambling related site is breaking their AUP?
Obviously it must since that is exactly what my directory is doing only it is using categories for the links.

I wouldn't mind so much but I have funds in my account and they are frozen for 6 months.

I will not be using paypal again for any business and I would suggest anyone using them to ensure you don't keep ANY funds in your account.
